DOG TRAINING

Meadow Run stresses the importance of sound training specifically tailored to you and your dog. Many people have different goals for their companions. We believe in positive methods, preventing rather than correcting. Prevent the unwanted behaviors and positively reinforce the behavior that you want, and you will have a dog who wants to behave! Quite simply, we believe that a happy dog equals a happy owner!

There are different types of training programs available at Meadow Run:

Private Lessons

Private Lessons are when owners and their dogs come to the farm and learn to work together. We can focus on new skills, problem solving, or help brush up old skills. For an additional fee, I can come to your home.

PUPPY SCHOOL

This type of lesson is for puppies 8 weeks to 6 months old. Help set your house up for puppy raising success. Learn how to prevent behaviors from occurring instead of trying to correct them later. Many topics will be covered, including house training, enrichment, socialization, biting, chewing and leash walking. Raise your puppy right - the earlier you start, the better!

These are private lessons, but there are plenty of resident animals to help socialize your new friend. Each lesson is structured around your unique situation.

NOSEWORK/SCENTWORK LESSONS

Get involved in this fun sport, based on bomb/drug detection. We can get you ready to compete, or simply boost your dog’s confidence and provide mental stimulation. Let your dog sniff!

boarding with training

Let us help you brush up your dog’s training while vacationing. Enrich his camp experience with extra exercise and brain games, helping address any training issues that you may have.

Our training goal is simple: to help you create YOUR ideal companion. We often focus on greeting skills, walking nicely on a leash, being quiet at appropriate times, and general self control. We find that simply learning to pay attention to the owner during times of distraction can be helpful, because then a dog is more likely to listen. Again, there is an emphasis on creating a dog who WANTS to listen; not because he HAS to.
